Background: Why IMPedia

In many clinics, surgical teams depend on static documents like printed material lists and checklists, relying on team members' memory. Daily briefings by role hinder alignment on procedure and patient specifics, causing last-minute changes to go unnoticed, leading to stress, miscommunication and workflow disruptions during surgery.

These challenges are intensified by rotating team structures and the need to work across various disciplines. This not only complicates onboarding and collaboration but also affects the quality of training and task allocation in surgical teams.

To tackle this, the non-profit Institute of Medical Procedures (IMP) has developed the digital platform IMPedia since 2018. It provides real-time access to standardized workflows, checklists, and training content, ensuring all team members use the same up-to-date information. This enhances communication, reduces adverse events, and supports clinical education.
